My Summer getaway…

Ciao, Milano! This Summer, I made my way to the chique fashion city of Italy. I spent 4 days soaking up the sun, eating gelato (and more Italian delicacies) & exploring as much as I could. The city is super well-connected to Amsterdam, so it was easy to find affordable tickets. Within 1.5 hours, the plane landed at Linate airport on an early Thursday morning. The moment I’ve stored my luggage at the hotel, freshened up and take the first steps outside in an unknown city always gives me a spark of joy. Without a strict schedule, it’s very exciting to find out how you’ll spend the day and what will come across your path…

There are plenty of impressive sights to discover in the heart of the city. The one which is probably in the top 3 of everyone’s list is Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. It’s one of the most impressive shopping malls I’ve ever seen. All the big (Italian) brands are situated here showing off their luxury products. I was stuck window-shopping, but even just strolling around here was a blast…

The main reason I visited Milano is because I was meeting up with two Italian friends of mine! Spending time with locals in their own country is one of the greatest pleasures in life if you ask me. No need to worry about getting trapped in touristy places, awkward conversations in an non-familiair language or wasting too much time figuring out the directions. It was amazing to experience the city through their eyes. In our itinerary: aperitivo at the buzzing Terrazza Aperol, long city-walks through scenic neighborhoods like Brera, a visit to the rooftop of the famous Duomo and of course food, plenty of good food 😉

All in all, an experience I wouldn’t have wanted to miss. I left the city with a big smile on my face, an Italian bag richer, and perhaps a bit more weight… #worthit
Lots of love,
Manisha
Milan is such a beautiful place to explore and photograph. I’ve had a chance to visit couple of times and walking on the rooftops of the Duomo was certainly a highlight to remember. Thanks for sharing and safe travels 😀 Aiva
