An afternoon in Notting Hill

Besides my parents and sister who visited me here, a friend of mine decided to come over for a weekend as well! Me and Esmée met each other via Instagram. She is a really kind and creative girl (check out her amazing blog via the link!) and we both share the same interests. Therefore, I was really happy when she asked if she could visit me. Overall, it was one of my best weekends in London: we had a lot of fun, took a ton of pictures and it was great to show her the city through my eyes. Since she has visited London once before, we decided to skip the main tourist sights and focused on the most photogenic places and charming neighboorhouds. A place which therefore couldn’t be left out in our planning was Notting Hill: one of my favourite neighbourhoods. It’s famous for its colourful buildings, which functioned as the perfect backdrop for our pictures.

I present to you, the results:

Food in London: the breakfast & lunch edition

“Good food & good company are two of life’s simplest, yet greatest pleasures.”

Since I always take pictures of every meal I have in lunchrooms/restaurants, I thought it would be nice to share some of the meals I had so far in London. Eating out is one of my favourite activities: I’m always on the hunt for the best places and I really love to try new things. London is the perfect city for me, since all the international cuisines make the options endless. The people who are close to me know that I like to eat healthy meals, so be prepared for some fruit/vegetable filled plates!

I regularly ask my eating company to pose in a natural looking way with their hands to make the pictures pictures look even better, credits to you guys! I know I can be an annoying food-picture lady sometimes 😉 I also like to take +10 pictures before I actually start eating and the food is already cooling down, oh well

Life in London (update!)

Exactly one month ago I arrived in London and I must say: time’s flying so fast! Sometimes I still need to pinch myself for the fact that I’m actually living and studying here. It feels like a dream. I’m kind of surprised that the city already feels so familiar to me, even though it hasn’t been such a long time that I’m here. One of main reasons why I fell in love with the city right away is that it’s so cosmopolitan. At my university, in the streets, shops, restaurants,  basically everywhere you look: people from all around the world are present. London feels like a miniature world to me: getting in touch with so many different people, cultures, languages and cuisines is what I love the most.

Living on my own is going quite well so far. When the semester at my university started, I slowly began to create a routine. My lectures are from Tuesday till Thursday, which means that I can enjoy a long weekend every week. I’m trying to keep a good balance between studying and exploring the city. London has got so much to offer, which makes the list of places that I want to visit endless.

I already met a lot of wonderful people here and last week my sister came to visit me for a long weekend. It was amazing to show her around and let her experience London through my eyes. We had a lot of fun and as you can probably guess, a lot of pictures were taken that weekend… 😉
