Sparkly Winter nights

One of the ways to get into the ultimate Christmas spirit is undoubtedly visiting a good old Christmas market. I went to one in Leiden in the late afternoon after a serious shopping session. The market is held for 13 days in December. Besides all the Christmas stalls, plenty of food/drink options & live performances, it’s possible to book a canal tour and even test your ice-staking skills. It’s situated in the city centre at the Nieuwe Rijn, and the most jaw-dropping part: it’s floating! Yes you heard it right, they actually managed to install both the ice rink and the Christmas market in the canal. Pretty awesome, right? It’s the first floating market in Holland, and no worries, you won’t feel any movements 😉

When entering the market around 4 pm, I felt like I’d arrived just in time. The sun began to set and all the lights slowly became more vivid and sparkly. Standing on the Koornbrug overlooking the crowds and sea of lights was absolutely a magical experience. As you can probably imagine, my photography-loving heart started to beat a lot faster…

Florence, Italy

Last summer, my cousin and I booked a last-minute trip to Florence. The city is considered to be the artistic, historical, and cultural capital of not only Tuscany, but of all Italy. We spent a long weekend seeing as much beautiful sights as we could, eating lot of good food the Italian cuisine has got to offer (..gelato!) & enjoying the buzzing but at the same time relaxed atmosphere which makes the city a must-visit when spending time in Italy..

A daytrip to Split

Split, the second-largest city of Croatia, surprised me in many ways. This vibrant, always buzzing city situated on the Dalmatian coastline attracts a big number of tourists every year. The mix between ancient and modern influences make this place so unique. Many people consider Split mainly as a beach/party holiday destination. Whereas in my opinion, the city has got much more to offer. Let’s move on to the pictures!

The old town of the city where Diocletian’s Palace is situated is placed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site, and truly stunning. You can consider it as a labyrinth of streets packed with authentic remaining of the imperial residence, all kinds of restaurants, bars and shops. I had flashbacks to Rome from the moment I walked through the old palace gates and started imagining what life would be like back in the Roman empire era.

Apart from its historic sites, the city owns a beautiful harbor, a shopping centre with all the big brands and ice-cream stalls on almost every corner of the street. Since we stayed in Trogir during our trip in Croatia, we decided to plan a day trip to Split. It was easy to reach by boat: it took about 1 hour to get to the city. Making our way back to Trogir was one of the best experiences: the sun slowly began to set as we were chilling on the boat, which resulted in some incredible views…
